SANS Instructors

Chris Pizor spent years in the U.S. Air Force protecting its network, studying hackers and plying his skills in intelligence and information security. Now he’s sharing his expertise in cybersecurity with SANS students.

Hal Pomeranz is a SANS Faculty Fellow and an independent digital forensic investigator, with over 25 years of experience. Hal is the Founder and Principal Consultant for Deer Run Associates.

Jonathan is an officer in the Maryland Air National Guard serving as a cyberspace capabilities developer. With expertise in Windows implant development and kernel research, he brings practical defensive and offensive cybersecurity experience to SANS.

Ian has been fortunate enough to have designed, delivered, supported, and fixed systems across the world. He is a GIAC Advisory Board member and currently holds 20+ security certifications.

Kevin Ripa has transformed the global cybersecurity landscape through decades of frontline digital forensics, assisting law enforcement, governments, and Fortune 500 companies in unraveling sophisticated cyberattacks and nation-state threats.

Clay holds a Bachelor’s and Master's in Computer Science from Southeastern OK State University, as well as a numerous certifications. The highlight of his career has been seeing his students graduate to jobs in software development and security.

With a career spanning 20+ years and has included working in-network design, IP telephony, service development, security and project management, Jonathan has a deep technical background that provides a wealth of knowledge he draws upon when teaching.

Christopher, Principal Consultant at Applied Risk/DNV, specializes in ICS red team activities. He holds multiple security certifications and brings a wealth of practical experience to the classroom environment.

Megan is a Senior Security Engineer at IBM and SANS course author, combining her expertise in digital forensics with a fierce competitive edge as a Muay Thai fighter with 7 sanctioned bouts.

Josh Rykowski currently serves as a Cyberspace operations officer for the US Army where he has lead a Cyber Protection Team and worked to develop specialized training for those same teams.

Greg has over 30 years of hands-on experience in IT security and is experienced in desktop and server support, network design and implementation, application development and programming, IT service management, IT security, and information assurance.

John Scott is the Lead Cyber Security Researcher for Culture AI, a comprehensive Human Risk Management platform that empowers organizations to effectively measure employee security behaviors and reduce cyber risks.
