Sometimes there are valid security and privacy reasons to use a temporary workstation for potentially malicious websites or to avoid tracking. Prerequisites: Attendees will need an AWS Account and should be comfortable launching an EC2 instance and connecting to it. Here is a tutorial on launching an EC2 virtual machine instance: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/EC2_GetStarted.html During the session we will briefly cover some basic git commands as well as Terraform basics, including installation. When a cloud service provider (CSP) says they are using encryption, that’s when you know you need to dig deeper into the details rather than succumb to the Jedi mind tricks of encryption.
According to market data, more businesses than ever before are utilizing several cloud service providers. The first SANS Multicloud Survey, performed in 2022, indicated that the forces behind the tendency to adopt multiple cloud solutions was driven by a variety of factors, including mergers and acquisitions and concerns around ensuring business continuity. It is also clear that the major cloud service providers continue to innovate and differentiate their services in the face of intense competition.
Cloud services rapidly evolve as the result of incessant agile software delivery, but so do cloud customers. Previous SANS surveys have identified mergers and acquisitions as a major reason that cloud customers have started using a new cloud service provider and use multiple single sign-on solutions. Leadership changes can create a lack of consistency. Lack of architectural guidance may also leave different teams within a company going off in different directions. On this webcast, SANS Certified Instructor Ken Hartman examines 2024 survey results to provide insight into:Reasons that certain cloud technologies or best practices are only partially adoptedThe influence of a cloud architecture strategy on choices made during implementationHow widely used and effective various third-party and cloud-native security tools, technologies, and services areRegister for this webcast now, and you will automatically receive the companion white paper upon publication.
Graphical interfaces are great for quick tasks, but real cloud power users know that mastery of command-line interfaces (CLIs) unlock unparalleled efficiency, automation, and precision.
Cloud adoption continues to grow, and with it, the complexity of securing multiple cloud environments. The SANS 2025 Multicloud Survey will explore how organizations manage security at scale across diverse cloud service providers. This webcast aims to provide insights into survey results, including the tools, techniques, and strategies needed to secure multicloud environments effectively—offering valuable guidance for organizations navigating the complexities of cloud security at scale.
Security teams often find themselves reacting to cloud misconfigurations and policy violations after they occur—playing an endless game of security Whack-a-Mole.
